Dawgs N Celebrations

It has been quite the month! Between birthdays (including a dog birthday), a wedding and school, I have had little time to breathe. Week long nap, please!

Lets start with my poor pups. I wasn't planning on dressing them up for howlloween (haha) but after a visit to good ol' Petco I just couldn't deny them the opportunity that every other dog has! I know, I'm so considerate ;) Here is a picture that I took yesterday. It took me a good 10 minutes to get this. Too bad we won't be in town for Halloween...maybe they can just wear them all week! Our neighbors will all think we're nuts, oh well.

Staying on the dog subject, Kels cousins had a lil birthday party for their boxer, Chloe.
I had never been or heard of such a party but we had a good time visiting with friends and watching all the dogs play together. There were party hats and even a cake! We were all laughing when someone said "I wonder when we'll be having one of these parties for an actual kid?!" after, with frightened eye's, everyone played the finger pointing game. I found it pretty amusing. It's interesting how involved people here are with their dogs. I mean, you think I'M BAD with my costumes - but let me tell you -when I walk my dogs it's like a social thing. For example, when you see someone else with a dog, you stop and follow a standard routine- first you let the dogs get acquainted, and then if they get along, you chat about their breed, the vet you go to, the DOGGIE DAYCARE'S that are in the area (that people take their dogs to a couple times a week so they can play with other dogs and have a good time), and dog parks. WHEW! It's amazing. I think that to some owners, dogs are like substitute children- there are many responsibilities that come with being a dog owner but not quite as significant as those of a parent (with the exception that dogs never really grow up, so they're dependent on you for their whole lives). Hmmmm.... I wonder if I'll abandon my poor pups when I have kids?

Kels birthday was on the 20th and we celebrated by going to a Redskins game. It was a
ctually a surprise :) I had ordered the tickets and invited some friends of ours to come along. Our friend Amy sent an email to both of us asking if we would like to go to lunch with them on Sunday (sneaky sneaky) and I replied by saying oh yeah, sure- sounds like fun! So Sunday came around and as we neared the football field, Kel said "Oh wow, the restaurant must be really close to FedEx field! I wonder if everyone going to the game will be eating there?" We were all trying so hard to maintain our composure! Finally when he said "Uhm guys, I think we need to turn around" I pulled the tickets out of my bag and we all put our Redskins gear on! He was surprised, YES! Mission accomplished ;) The game was a little slow against the Browns, the score was 0-0 at the half! But the Skins pulled off a 14-11 victory and we left happy fans (well Kel really is a Patriots fan and I'm really a Bears fan but we hold a special place for the Redskins in our hearts!). Hail to the Redskins!

So here it is, my very first blog! I'm really not sure how to do this but I will try my best not to bore anyone and I'll try not to make a fool of myself! haha.

The weather is changing here in MD and I have mixed feelings. I'm looking forward to the holidays but am dreading the winter! I really miss the weather in NM. I miss having the option of wearing flip-flops in December, I miss my light jackets, and I miss my thin "sweaters". Ahhhhhh.... I've decided to decorate instead of passively being a victim of the cold. Here's a picture of our door, come visit!

That's all!
